Rachel Schaller
I am a publishing professional with an eclectic resume and varied personal tastes. I frequently partner with or work for independent authors, literary agencies, and small presses across many publishing categories.
My biggest passions are all things children’s books, from picture books to YA. I have a strong personal and professional interest in comics and genre fiction.
I hold a bachelor’s in English and classics as well as a master’s in children’s literature. I’ve worked on the Webtoon Sidewalks for Straight Shot Studios. I developed production SOPs for Overcup Press. I supported QA and merchandising efforts at Olswanger Literary.
Currently, I construct reader reports at McIntosh & Otis. I assessed these manuscripts overall strengths as well as their market potential. Client manuscripts range from middle grade to new adult. Genres include romance, fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction.
I am the children’s editor at National Library of Patient Rights and Advocacy, the home of Patient Press. There I frequently work with medical professionals to translate their expertise to children, often for the first time ever. I am the point person every step of the way. I wrote a children’s book for them, as well.
Who am I personally? Would you be shocked and appalled to hear I like to read? I also quite like a good movie and time outdoors when the weather is nice. I’ve never had a favorite color. I like cherries.
